RESILIENCE FOR PSYCHOTHERAPISTS

Practical Strategies to Protect Against Burnout and Vicarious Trauma

LIVE, VIRTUAL WORKSHOP BY THERAPIST REFRESH

April 24, 2021, 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. EDT

Course Description

Burnout and vicarious trauma exist as universal risks for psychotherapists and allied professionals exposed regularly to the suffering of those for whom they provide care. The pandemic, together with other stressors of recent months, exacerbate these risks for helping professionals who are seeing increased caseloads, intensified need and symptomatology—all while dealing with many of the same stressors themselves.

This live, virtual 2-hour workshop reviews and applies the literature on vicarious trauma to resource helping professionals to better understand their own risks and resilience related to burnout and vicarious trauma. Participants will take away immediately actionable strategies to limit and ameliorate the toll of such exposure while also inspiring their own vicarious resilience and post-traumatic growth.
